The movie is about the story of Mahi played by

The first hour of the movie is simply amazing and it talks about the politics that goes on where casting for the movies is concerned. It focuses on Kareena and her relationships with two men including co-star Shahana Goswami and her PR manager
Divya Dutta. These two characters here are quite attention grabbing and appealing. The screenplay for this movie is done by Madhur, Anuradha Tiwari and Manoj Tyagi and they are further assisted by Niranjan Iyengar for additional screenplay. The screenplay for this movie is quite appealing.
On the other hand, there are some shocking values that the writer has grabbed from reality but some are quite irrelevant and could have been removed from Mahi's story. Sequence involving Ranvir Shorey seems stretched and there are some episodes that the writer could have avoided. Thus the movie seems elongated and stretched here.
This movie talks more about the brutal realities and downfalls rather than glamour and high life. The downfall thus seems more focused than the stardom of film industry. This movie focuses more on drama than on glamour of this industry.
In spite of all this, the screenplay here comes with great appeal and zeal and there are no loose grips in the screenplay of this movie. Thus the theme of the movie is completely focused till the concluding part which is handled with skillfulness by Madhur.
The
music album of this movie compliments the narrative wonderfully well. The some 'Halkat Jawaani' is already on the hit list of the charts and there are other quite well soothing songs in the movie that brings beauty to the overall narrative of the movie. The background score is also quite attractive. The DoP by Mahesh Limaye is quite effective and captures the emotions on the face of Kareena and glamour quite skillfully. Dialogues by Niranjan Iyengar are quite surprising and remain according to the demand of the theme. Styling of Kareena by Manish Malhotra is superb.
HEROINE is a heroine centered movie and thus it's a Kareena's movie in all manners. She has given an amazing performance which is surely worth award winning and without doubts it was a quite challenging attempt that required most efforts. This real life motivated story is not a piece of cake that anyone could have attempted.
Kareena really does it well and successfully grabs the attention of her audiences from the beginning till the end. The expressions of innocence, disappointment, victory and defeat are focused here and she delivers everything with complete supremacy and brilliance.
Since this movie is based on Kareena, other cast of the movie doesn't get much scope and space on screen. Arjun Rampal is perfect with an impressive performance here. Randeep Hooda however gets a brief role but an important one and delivers really well. All the supporting cast of the movie is worth praising especially Divya Dutta and Shahana Goswami. Mugdha Godse is good while
Sanjay Suri is top class. Delnaaz Irani and Govind Namdev do really well. Helen graces the show with her cameo role.
Overall this movie HEROINE is one of the most effective motion pictures from the list of Madhur Bhandarkar. This movie is women centric and theme is an award winning one. Most importantly, many of the moviemakers would love to see the glamour world and its realities on big screen by this amazing moviemaker. The efforts here are worth praising by everyone especially Kareena's performance is heart winning and first rate. This movie is a MUST WATCH giving an inside out of the movie industry.
