English Vinglish Music Review
The kind of movie English Vinglish is expected to be, there are not much expectations from the music album. The subject and theme of this movie is quite different than usual movies made in Bollywood town. The writer and director here for the movie is Gauri Shinde and the maker is R. Balki. This movie is set in a different theme with the comeback of yesteryear super star Sridevi. The composer of the music here is Amti Trivedi who is known for producing unusual kind of music. Lyrics are given by Swanand Kirkire. Thus with all this unusual setting made for this movie, the music album is expected to be something unusual as well.

The start of this music album is quite unusual. When you expect to heat an upbeat song in the beginning of the album, this album begins with a situational track about the central character of this movie where she tries to move from her comfort zone to the one of living in USA. The start of this song is quite slow but this one is a melodious track by Amit Trivedi, 'Dhak Dhuk'. This one is a completely Indian composition set in the 70s and Amit suits well behind the mike here.

The next one is an upbeat track where it talks about Sridevi wondering about tall towers that are waiting for her. The proceedings of this song are taken over by Clinton Cerejo and Bianca Gomes. The song is 'Manhattan' with a western based attached to it. Here Sridevi is introduced to the city of Manhatten which seems to be a completely new setting for her and thus amazes her.

'Gustakh Dil' is the next track which suits well and is an expected track that could come from Balki’s production house. This one is a perfect blend of Indian and western classical music and is further lifted high by Shilpa Rao’s voice behind the mike. This one is a superb outing with great depth and edge given to it. Shilpa Rao’s voice suits well the character played by Sridevi and this song on whole is a nice outing in this album.

The next song in the album is 'Navrai Majhi' which is a varied outing with a folk base attached to it. This one is a song of celebration with contemporary feel and touch attached to it making it the essence of the event celebrated here. Here lead is taken from the front by Sunidhi Chauhan and later voices of Swanand Kirkire and Neelambari Kirkire are heard along with some chipping of Natali Di Luccio in it.

The last track to appear in this album is 'Badla Nazara' and this song comes directly from Rahman’s musical school. This one is again a situational track where the lead character of the movie is striving to find a new meaning for her life after discovering English language. The song is delivered with the perfect voice of Shilpa Rao. The chorus of the song is also perfect with a special mention should be for lyrics by Swanand Kirkire. This song creates a huge impression and is like a nursery rhyme. This song appears in another version as well by Amit Trivedi.

Overall the music album of this movie English Vinglish narrates the story further and adds beauty to the story. All the songs of the album will make an effect on the listener and thus one would be urged to see the movie. Most of the songs are situational tracks revealing about the life of character played by Sridevi in this movie.
