'Damadam Mast Kalandar' song to trouble David!

Bejoy Nambiar's forthcoming movie David has found itself in a trouble and reason behind it is the popular folk number in this movie 'Dama Dam Mast Kalandar'. The Sindhi community has conflicts on usage of this song in the movie and they have asked makers Reliance Entertainment along with Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to remove this song. They feel that the promo of this movie portrays this song in a wrong manner.

This song originally belongs to the poet Aamir Khusro and later it was modified by Sufi poet Bulleh Shah. This song is dedicated to famous holy figures of the community including Shahbaz Qalandar and Jhulelal. The community members claim that they have issue with love making and violence scenes pictured on this song.

Manoj Matai complained saying 'There are certain things in our community for which we hold extreme respect and are close to our hearts. This song is one of them as it shows our culture. The song is played in the promo with love making and violence scenes shown in the background and thus it portrays a wrong message. The makers should take it off air and consider our sincere request.'

Bejoy when inquired he says 'This song is played in the movie during a wedding and we have used this track as it is quite popular and connects to millions of people from all around the world. We have no intention to hurt religious sentiments of people.'
