The Governing Council of the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Program Producers (AMPTPP) unanimously elected their new president on September 17th, 2012. The new president is elected to be famous Bollywood producer Sajid Nadiadwala. He will now be taking control as the Chairperson and ex-officio of all the committee agendas and frames. CEO, AMPTPP, Said Rajat Sengupta confirmed saying that it was a mutual decision by all the members of the council to elect Sajid Nadiadwala as their leader who has all the knowledge of the cinematic world. He further said that all the decisions of the committee will be taken under leadership of Sajid Nadiadwala.
Sajid is reported to be the youngest president of the committee ever. He will be taking all the decisions related to the industry and these would also include statutes amendments including service tax, Copyright Act, arbitrations and mediations, relaxation of stamp duties for agreement of Copyright, investment issues and many others.
Sajid was when contacted to comment he said that he has been given a big responsibility by the seniors of the industry and that he will try his best to deliver with best of his abilities. He further said that there are many issues and the most important one is piracy and thus he would be working towards this issue quite seriously as the new president of AMPTP.
