Dibakar Bannerjee Shanghai all set to reach festivals!

We have seen lately many a movies to have their commercial release through various film festivals and yet again this time is the Dibakar Bannerjee's Shanghai. This movie is making its first way to the Toronto Film Festival and will then be moving to other festivals. The film festivals are however considered a venue for non commercial projects and thus movies making to these festivals are thus considered to be made for discerning audiences.

This decision of screening Shanghai at the festivals was taken by the producers of the movie however it released commercially first so that it could not be termed as a festival film. Dibakar was when inquired about this decision he said that they had to release the movie commercially first before making its way to the festival and this thing has happened before as well. For example for the movie Love Sex Aur Dhokha which was shown at the festival and at the same time was a big commercial success.

He confirmed that Shanghai after being released all over in India will now be making it to different selected festivals and will also be released in other countries commercially where it has not reached yet. He said that this movie has opened gateway to a new kind of cinema for Bollywood movies and thus all the international audiences will now get to see a different image of the Bollywood.
