Sonu Nigam born on 30 July 1973 in Faridabad is a famous bollywood playback singer who has sung in numerous movies, and in Punjabi, Assamese, Marathi, Bengali, and Kannada movies. He has also one of the most successful Indian-pop artists and also acted in a few feature films. He changed spellings of his last name from 'Nigam' to 'Niigaam' because of his belief in numerology, but it did not work well for him; so Sonu returned to old spellings 'Nigam'.

Sonu Nigam moved to Mumbai at the age of 19 with his father to try his luck in the Bollywood industry. Initially he struggled a lot and only covers of Mohammad Rafi Songs, primarily for Rafi Ki Yaadein album series released by T-Series.  In 1995, Sonu Nigam started hosting the famous music competition Sa Re Ga Ma. In the same year, he sang the song Acha Sila Diya from the album Bewafa Sanam and the song became an instant hit amongst the audience.

In the year 1997, he shot to fame when he sang the Anu Malik composed song Sandese Aate Hain from the movie border. He broke the notion of being Muhammad Rafi clone with this amazing song. In the same year, he sang the mega successful song Yeh Dil Deewana from the movie Pardes. The song became rage and Sonu Nigam consolidated his position as one of the best play back singer of the country. His song Kal ho Na ho from the movie Kal Ho Na ho is one of the all times best songs and he won the Filmfare best playback singer award for it. His songs in mega musical blockbuster like Taal, Saathiya and Pukar have left the audience mesmerized.
Apart from movies, he has made a few successful pop albums to his credit. Jaan, Deewana, Mausam, Yaad, Chanda Ki Doli are all albums that became super hits. Apart from singing, he hosted the show Sa Re Ga Ma from 1994 to 1999 and then rejoined the show in 2007 as a host.

Sonu Nigam also did a Radio Show called Life Ki Dhun with Sonu Nigam in which he used to interview famous celebrities. He also tried his hand at acting and did movies live Jaani Dushman, Kash Aap Hamare Hote and Love in Nepal however none of these movies worked their magic at the box office. Sonu Nigam was the judge of Indian Idol season 1 and Season 2 and made an appearance as guest Judge in season 3 and season 4.

Sonu Nigam is a light hearted person and has many times appeared on talk shows and delighted everyone with his sense of humor. He frequently imitates all singers and actors and also imitates his own singing style. He is also known to be an able dancer and is often seen dancing in his own music album videos.

Sonu Nigam was born in Delhi to Agam Kumar Nigam who is also a singer. He was a very good student and used to be a class topper but had to quit his studies due to financial issues. He is married to Madhurima and has a son called Navaan who was born in 2007
