Ranbir Kapoor born on 28th September 1982 is a Bollywood heartthrob who works in Hindi movies. He is the son of legendary actor Rishi Kapoor and his mother Neetu Singh is also a famous actress of the years gone by. He belongs to a Punjabi family and has a sister called Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Ranbir Kapoor is also the grandson of the legend Raj Kapoor and cousin of famous Bollywood heroines Kareena and Karishma Kapoor. He did his schooling from Bombay Scottish School and later enrolled in method acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York.
Before starting his Bollywood career Ranbir Kapoor assisted director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in his movie Black. Ranbir made his much touted Bollywood debut with Sanjay Leela bhansali’s musical drama Saawariya in which he played the Role of Raj who is an aspiring singer. Much before the release of the film at the time when the first promos of the movie were aired Ranbir Kapoor got the attention of the audience and became the darling of audience and the dream boy of every girl. Unfortunately his charm was not enough to prevent Saawariya from flopping at the box office. The movie also marked the debut of Sonam Kapoor who is the daughter of famous actor Anil Kapoor. Even though the movie flopped but Ranbir Kapoor was hailed for his acting and his Towel dance in the song Jab say Tera Naina became the talk of the tinsel town. He also won the Filmfare award for Best Debut Male.

His next movie was Yash Raj Film’s Bachna Ae Haseeno which was directed by Siddhart Anand. The movie saw him playing the role of a playboy opposite Bipasha Basu, Deepika and Manisha Lamba. The movie did average business at the box office but Ranbir’s act was appreciated and his chemistry with Bipasha Basu was called the highlight of the movie.

In 2009, Ranbir played the lead role in Karan Johar’s production Wake Up Sid. The movie did average business at the box office but the critics hailed the story and execution of the film and most importantly gave Ranbir Kapoor thumbs up for his act. For his brilliant performance he won the Filmfare Critics award for best Actor. His next movie in 2009 was the romantic comedy Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani opposite Katrina Kaif. This run of the mil comedy turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year and with it Ranbir proved that he can also do comic roles as expertly as others. His third movie in the year 2009 was the Yash Raj Films production Rocket Singh: Salesman of the year. The movie did not work well at the box office but the Critics gave the movie 5 stars and rated Ranbir’s performance as first class and mature. The Filmfare Critics award for the best actor he recived was for his performance in all 3 movies i.e. Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani , Wake up Sid, and Rocket Singh.

His next movie was the multi starrer political drama Rajneeti opposite Arjun Rampal, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Katrina Kapoor and Manoj Bajpai. The movie was a smash hit all across indian and become of the highest grosser of the year. His performance of Samar Pratab was received with a crescendo of applause from the critics and audience alike. Special mention was given to the fact that he shared screen space with legendary actors like Ajay Devgan and Nana Patekar and matches them in scene to scene without being overshadowed and that too in a movie that is not considered his forte. His other release in 2010 was the romantic comedy Anjaana Anjaani opposite Priyanka Chopra. The movie had a hit soundtrack but did not do to well at the box office. All eyes are now on Ranbir Kapoor’s next big release Rockstar which will release very soon.

Ranbir Kapoor in an interview in March 2008 announced that he is dating fellow co star Deepika Padukone, but they broke up the next year. After that he has been linked with a host of actresses but he has denied and labeled it as rumors
